Celebrate! is a series of related works that examine the passing of knowledge, history, and trauma through generations of a family. Using birthdays – and the image of a birthday cake – as the narrative through-line, these works consider the idea and social construction of birthdays as a reason to celebrate, as markers of years, and a countdown to death.
